Proposal for a public library located between the old town and the new extension of Vilanova del Vallès. The transition between the two urban areas is made through a building understood as an artificial mountain.
The library occupies the ground floor while a multipurpose room is located on the first floor. The uses of this room extend to the exterior throughout the roof of the building, making the building a point of social interaction, extending its use outside the library hours and enriching the public life of the park
The building is completely covered by wooden slats placed vertically, making the reading of its scale ambiguous. The separations between the slats vary according to the different lighting and sun protection needs. The light inside the library extends the analogy of the mountain, producing parallel conditions to those of entering a forest where the light is filtered through the cracks in the trees.
